Transtar

During the recent years, my child Star (now a young adult) and I went through a life-changing process. After the beginning of puberty, Star realized he is not at peace with the feminine body he was born in. Star chose a masculine appearance and now defines himself as a genderqueer – a non-binary identity between man and woman. We share the journey, and the photography project is part of a wider work that includes objects that Star and I create. Ever since we parted on the journey, it has become the focus of my inquiry into the nature of gender, and our fear of its non-binary qualities. The project is ongoing, each year we take a new picture, evidence of Star's maturation process.
